The end of the world lighthouse is located at the Cap Cerbère. Entirely automatic , it is powered by photoelectric cells, and can be seen far 15 miles. It has been operating for 20 years.
The attractive landscape of the coast, and particularly the highest European cliffs, make cerbere a good place to stop.
Below the cliffs, is "Ore beach", named in 1860 because, a Belgian tried to extract iron ore. Since that time nothing of interest has been found. Otherwise the beach would have been destroyed, the name remain. |
