In 1974, the first submarine Reserve was created, and the management handed to the Local council. The full Reserve is 65 hectares, inside a 650 hectares protection area.
The boundary is designated by yellow markers between Cap Peyrefite and Cap Bear. The total Reserve is located at the Cap rederis. Here the wildlife is fully protected from human interference. Sub aquatic hunting is absolutely forbidden.
Sailing is forbidden in the total Reserve, and fishing from boats is allowed only under authorization in the large protected area.
The wildlife is closely watched, because many species are scarce and some of them are known to be endangered species like: big mother-of-pearl, big dolphin, caouanne turtle, red coral, etc…
To get the best of this, contact a diving club, or use the sub aquatic path in Peyrefite. |
