Cerbere coils up around a narrow handle cut from the last foothills
of Pyrenees. The ground is schistose, marked by the iron presence,
where from its reddening aspect (the llose). Zones in projections
reveal harder materials such as quartzites of blue aspect ( the
penya blaua ). The circumference of the coast is sculptured by the
navy erosion, but also by the éolienne erosion.

The vegetation is of type scrubland with some rare copses concentrated
on water sources.

The average climate of oriental Albères is subtropical in
dry summer, that is the Mediterranean typical climate. One observes
a dry dominance in summer and moderated in winter, with however
cold episodes according to the Southern influence (warm and wet)
or northerly (cold and dry) winds.
The pluviometry is characterized by its suddenness, its intensity
and its irregularity.
The tramontana, hunting(chasing away) clouds, gives an exceptional
period of sunshine.
